Which leather for an aviator jacket?
Four families of leather, from the same tanneries as the major luxury houses:
- plongé lambskin, supple and very light;
- suede lambskin, matt and downy;
- calf suede, denser and more structured;
- deerskin, supple and very hard-wearing.
Calf suede gives body to the collar and shoulders, deerskin brings suppleness and strength, and plongé lambskin offers a lighter version. You will find each hide described in detail on Our Leathers.
Aviator or bomber jacket: what is the difference?
The aviator jacket is straight and defined by its collar. The leather bomber is shorter and gathered at the waist. The aviator is warmer; the bomber is easier to wear in town over a shirt.
How to wear an aviator jacket?
With its broad shoulders, the aviator jacket pairs with chunky knitwear or a roll neck in winter, and with a shirt in spring and autumn.
How do I choose my size?
The aviator jacket is worn with a little ease so you can layer knitwear underneath. Take your usual size. Adjusting the length of the sleeves and body is included in the price, and our customisable models go up to size 62.
