Atelier Bertrand was founded on a conviction about materials. What has guided us from the beginning: that each customer leaves with a piece they understand, have chosen, and know exactly what it will become over time.

Bodin Joyeux EPV for nappa lambskin. Bonaudo for suede calfskin. These tanneries were chosen for what they do best with one specific material — not for the breadth of their catalogue.
I select every hide by hand. No bulk orders, no delivery without inspection. Anything that does not match the order never reaches the cutting table.
An Atelier Bertrand jacket is a piece you'll keep for twenty years.
Exceptional nappa leathers do not wear out — they develop a patina. They take on the creases of your movements, the shape of your shoulders, a colour that genuinely becomes your own. That is what quality means: not only what you feel on day one, but what it becomes over the years.

Our model is simple: no storefront, no distributors, no global advertising campaigns. Atelier Bertrand sells directly from its showroom in Passage Verdeau.
What this changes: the budget goes into materials and the workshop, not into the distribution chain. That's why a custom leather jacket costs €1,470, not €4,000.

The cuts are timeless, not drawn for a single season. Nappa leathers do not degrade, they improve. Zips are guaranteed for 2 years and replaceable for life on request. And if a seam gives way in ten years, the same Paris workshop that made the jacket can repair it.

How can Atelier Bertrand offer a custom-made leather jacket for €1,470?
Direct sales from the Passage Verdeau showroom, without a boutique or distributor. The budget is concentrated on materials – Bodin Joyeux EPV, Bonaudo – and specialized Parisian workshop manufacturing. Distribution margins are not included in the price.
How long does an Atelier Bertrand jacket last?
Between 15 and 20 years, often longer. Exceptional nappa leathers do not wear out — they develop a patina. Timeless cuts. Zips guaranteed for 2 years and replaceable for life. Every piece can be repaired by the same Paris workshop that made it.
Are alterations really free of charge?
Yes. Sleeve length and jacket length alterations are included at no charge — because a made-to-order piece should match your measurements exactly, not approximately.
Are the jackets made in France?
The made-to-measure range (€1,470) is manufactured in Paris, in the Bourse district, in a workshop specializing exclusively in leather garments. The ready-to-wear range (€990) is manufactured in Barcelona in a leather workshop with 50 years of experience. The leather goods come from Graulhet (EPV), and the belts from Milan.
Can I return a custom-made jacket?
No — a bespoke piece is made for you, it is not returnable. This is why Atelier Bertrand offers trial jackets and showroom appointments before any final order. Items in stock are returnable.
Does this direct model have an impact on quality?
No, the opposite. Selling direct means the entire budget goes into the material and the making. Every euro goes into the jacket, not into the distribution chain.
