The model

Café Racer

The Café Racer takes its line from the London motorcyclists of the 1960s, the riders who sped from one café to the next. Round collar closed with a snap button, fitted cut, four zipped pockets: everything is functional and nothing is superfluous. A straightforward men's leather jacket that works as well over jeans as under a coat.

Every piece is Made in France, made to order in our Paris workshop. Production takes 4 to 6 weeks, because every leather jacket is unique.

★★★★★

"I had been following the publications for some time and was eagerly awaiting my trip to Paris to see the pieces in person. The experience confirmed all the good things I had heard. The leathers are remarkable, both high-end, ethical, and respectful. The jackets and blousons are characterized by a sleek, elegant, and timeless style, with an exceptional level of finish down to the lining. An address I recommend without reservation."

"I discovered Atelier Bertrand while looking for THE JACKET, that special piece, the one that has that little something extra. I've been buying leather jackets for over 25 years: Schott, Chevignon, Redskins... I just bought my 4th jacket, it's incredible, the leather really catches the light. The quality is magnificent. Jérôme is passionate and helpful. I'm not looking anymore..."

"I was looking for a quality leather jacket in a color other than black. I came across a military green plonge lambskin one and fell in love with it. The leather felt incredibly soft, something I had never experienced before, and I've received many compliments. Jérôme gives excellent advice."

"In my search for a sleek and chic perfecto-style jacket, I met Jérôme who was able to create the jacket I had in mind. No chest zipper, but instead a blazer-style chest pocket for this brown perfecto that I love to wear."

Questions about this model

FAQ

What defines a café racer jacket?

The café racer is a clean-lined jacket originally designed for motorcycling: sharp lines, zip closure, a minimalist and sporty spirit. Ours keeps that vocabulary with a round collar fastened by a snap button and zipped pockets.

Does the fitted cut run small?

The cut is fitted, close to the body, true to the café racer spirit. If you prefer a little more room, we adjust the pattern when you order. If you are between two sizes, take your usual size and tell us about your build.

Can the pockets or details be changed?

Yes. The model is shown with four zipped pockets and a round snap collar, but everything can be customised: type and number of pockets, collar, zip colour. Each jacket is configured to your choices.

Where is this café racer jacket made?

It is made to order in our Paris workshop, with an Italian brass zip. Small-batch production ensures consistent finishing and a fit adjusted to your lengths.

What is the price, and can I try it on?

The customisable café racer is €1,470. You can book an appointment at our showroom, 31 Passage Verdeau, Paris 9th, to see and feel the leathers, try on the models and have your measurements taken.

How do I care for plongé lambskin?

Plongé lambskin is a soft, silky leather. Simple care is all it needs: a soft cloth, a nourishing leather lotion once or twice a year, and no prolonged exposure to damp. It gains patina over time.
