Genuine customer reviews.
"I had been following the publications for some time and eagerly awaited my trip to Paris to see the pieces in person. The experience confirmed all the good things I had thought. The leathers are remarkable, both high-end, ethical, and respectful. The level of finish is exceptional. The welcome mirrors the products: discerning and passionate. The advice is accurate, precise, and perfectly tailored. One can feel a true culture of leather and craftsmanship. An address I wholeheartedly recommend."
"I discovered Atelier Bertrand online while searching for a brand that offered something extra. I've been buying leather pieces for over 25 years: Schott, Chevignon, Redskins, Marlboro… The quality is truly incredible, magnificent! Jérôme is passionate and available. I don't need to look any further…"
“Very happy with my purchase. Go for it with your eyes closed, Jérôme gives excellent advice, and the leathers are magnificent.”
Frequently Asked Questions
What is salmon leather?
Salmon leather is a rare material in leather goods, obtained from skins sourced from the fishing industry — skins that would otherwise be discarded. Its texture features visible scales that create a natural relief impossible to replicate: each piece has its own unique pattern, its own character. It is also naturally water-resistant due to the properties of fish skin.
Is salmon leather durable?
Yes, and that's one of its major strengths. Salmon leather is naturally resistant to water and daily wear. It remains supple over time and develops a patina with use. It is a leather designed to last for years.
Where is the cardholder made?
Entirely in France, in Graulhet — the historic leather goods capital in the Tarn region. Our partner workshop specializes in exceptional leathers. Each cardholder is assembled and finished by hand: edge sanding, hot iron creasing to highlight the seams, then three layers of beeswax dye applied one by one.
What is the inner lining?
Each cardholder is fully lined with French lambskin or goatskin. This high-quality lining provides a very soft touch to the interior, protects cards, and contains no synthetic surfaces.
Is salmon leather an ethical choice?
Yes. The leathers used come from the food fishing industry and would otherwise be discarded as waste. Upcycling them into leather goods prevents this waste and gives the material a second life. The tanning methods used are also more environmentally friendly than traditional bovine leather tanning.
Delivery and returns?
Delivery is free in France for orders over 200€. Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days, for unused items in their original packaging. Our showroom at 31 Passage Verdeau, Paris 9e, is open by appointment if you wish to see and touch the cardholder before purchasing.
